5’s streaming service leads the pack for PSB streaming growth in 2025

34% growth over the year fueled by original drama hits and compelling boxsets

London, UK, 7 January 2026: 5 has cemented its position as the fastest-growing streaming service among UK public service broadcasters for the second year in a row. In 2025, the platform grew its Barb Total Viewing Minutes (TVMs) by 34% versus 2024 amongst all viewers, outperforming BBC iPlayer (+7%), ITVX (+24%) and 4 Streaming (+11%).

5’s slate of original drama and range of boxsets drove viewing on the streaming platform, reinforcing its strategy to invest in new slates for both during the year.

The All Creatures Great and Small collection was the most watched scripted series on the platform during the year, alongside original dramas The Feud, The Game, Cooper & Fry, The Forsytes and The Rumour. Following the shift to a streaming-first strategy, Home and Away also became the one of the year’s best performing title on 5’s streaming platform.

Top performing boxsets during 2025 included The Good Wife, Blue Bloods, Person of Interest, Blindspot, The Following and Wentworth Prison. The ongoing success in streaming follows the decision to unite 5’s linear, digital and streaming platforms under a single brand in March 2025. The move builds on record streaming growth in 2024, positioning 5 to expand on its IP-delivered content offering while continuing to serve its loyal linear audience. It also follows 5 being awarded ‘Channel of the Year’ at the 2025 Edinburgh TV Festival.

Ben Frow, Chief Content Officer, 5, said: “It’s testament to the strength of our programming, in particular our ambitious slate of original dramas, that 5 streaming has grown faster than any of our competitors for the second year in a row.”

Lee Sears, President International Ad Sales, Paramount, said: “We have huge ambitions to continue increasing the reach and scale of 5 – giving both our viewers and our advertising partners more opportunities to engage with our content across platforms.”

Festive streaming success

5’s streaming service also achieved its best Christmas ever, with total viewing hours up +15% YOY over the festive fortnight. Christmas Eve grew +25% YOY, Christmas Day +43%, Boxing Day +31%, New Year’s Eve (+11%) and New Year’s Day (+8%) – marking 5’s best-ever streaming performances on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Growth across the period was driven by the launches of Christmas specials of The Madame Blanc Mysteries (from 23 December) and All Creatures Great and Small (from 24 December), catch-up viewing of The Good Ship Murder (from 28th December) and World’s Strongest Man across 31 December and 1 January.
