Channel 5 has today announced a brand-new two-part series which will uncover some of the hidden stories behind one of the most recognisable buildings in the world, the Colosseum, hosted by prominent historian Dan Snow. The Colosseum with Dan Snow (w/t) is an illuminating journey around this famous ancient building and the blood-soaked gladiator displays that took place within its walls. The series will be produced by streaming service History Hit and was commissioned by Lucy Willis, Commissioning Editor, Factual for Channel 5.

Following the critical and viewer success of their BAFTA nominated series Endurance: Race to the Pole, explorers Ben Fogle and Dwayne Fields are returning to Channel 5 with the second instalment of their immersive, historical adventures. Endurance: Race for the Nile will see these latter-day adventurers step back in time to re-explore the intense and gripping story of the indominatable, idealistisic and egotistical Victorian explorers who risked it all to find The Source of the Nile. The series was commissioned by Denise Seneviratne, Commissioning Editor of Factual for Channel 5 and will be co-produced by October Films and Krempelwood.

Channel 5 are set to delve in to the most tumultuous era in Roman history as they retell the stories of the cuthroat and turbulent years of the first five Emperors and the powerful women behind them, from the perspective of Livia Drusilla, played by none other than Dame Siân Phillips, who brought Livia to life in the 1970s smash-hit classic I, Claudius. Told as a thrilling historical documentary, this brand new 3 x 60’ series Emperor: The Rise & Fall of a Dynasty is an October Films and GroupM Motion Entertainment co-production and was commissioned by Federico Ruiz, Commissioning Editor, Factual for Channel 5.

LONDON 8TH JANUARY 2022: Channel 5 today announces the commission of All Creatures Great and Small, for a third and fourth series. Based on best-selling author James Herriot’s cherished and iconic collection of stories, the critically acclaimed adaptation from BAFTA and Golden Globe-winning production company Playground (Howards End, Wolf Hall) will return for two series consisting of six episodes (6 x 60”) each plus Christmas Specials respectively. MASTERPIECE on PBS in the US, which will air season 2 starting January 9, will co-produce and All3Media International is the global partner.

London Thursday 11th November 2021: Channel 5 has announced today it has greenlit brand new series ‘Jane McDonald’s Caribbean’. The 4 x 60 series will be produced by VIS UK, ViacomCBS’ in-house production arm. Mark Powell will be serving as Executive Producer. The series was ordered by Channel 5 Commissioning Editor Greg Barnett. The travelogue will see Jane McDonald continue her travels, just not by boat. In this series she discovers her land legs and sets off to explore four of the West Indies’ most beautiful paradise islands: Barbados, St Lucia, Antigua, and Grenada.

Channel 5 has announced today it has greenlit ‘Susan Calman’s Antiques Adventure’. The 5 x 60’ series will be produced by Leeds-based True North. Julie Beanland will be serving as Executive Producer. The series was ordered by Channel 5 Commissioning Editor Dan Louw. The series is set to be stripped across five nights and will be an antiques extravaganza for viewers, with Susan at the helm delving deep into the wonderful world of hidden treasures and collectables.

Channel 5 today announced that it has ordered 20 x 60’ episodes from Renegade Pictures of the 2020 breakout hit Our Yorkshire Farm. The commission forms part of a new two-year deal secured by Wolfsong Media who are the agent for Our Yorkshire Farm’s shepherdess, Amanda Owen.
