CELEBRITY PUZZLING RETURNS TO 5, HOSTED BY JEREMY VINE, WITH TEAM CAPTAINS SALLY LINDSAY AND CAROL VORDERMAN

50 X 60’ SERIES COMMISSIONED FROM POTATO AND WHEELHOUSE STUDIOS

5 has announced the return of Celebrity Puzzling, the hit quiz show hosted by broadcaster Jeremy Vine with Team Captains Sally Lindsay and Carol Vorderman. The new series will see more of the nation’s favourite stars put through their paces with a series of mind-bending puzzles. The new series is produced by Potato (part of ITV Studios) and Wheelhouse Studios and has been commissioned by Federico Ruiz for 5.

The series is produced with the continued support of Creative Wales and is filmed at Enfys Studios in Cardiff, reinforcing 5’s ongoing commitment to productions in Wales.

Following a successful first series, Celebrity Puzzling returns with more fiendishly clever brainteasers, including a host of new games. Each episode sees Jeremy joined once again by team captains Sally Lindsay and Carol Vorderman, who welcome a fresh line-up of celebrity guests to tackle a range of tricky puzzles, testing logic, lateral thinking and problem-solving. With all the celebrities competing for the ultimate prize: bragging rights as the best puzzle-solvers in showbiz.

Jeremy Vine said: “This is the most fun quiz on British TV right now and I can’t wait to get back into the studio with Sally and Carol. Simple puzzles, smart celebs … lots of laughs, lots of howls of disappointment and joy. We are going to have a fantastic time on 5!”

Sally Lindsay added: “Me, Vorders and Jeremy are back puzzling away. I actually was quite impressed last year about how I handled the puzzling! Totally out of my comfort zone and now I’m getting nervous all over again! Nerve wracking and a massive laugh at the same time.”

Carol Vorderman commented: “The first series was just brilliant, it was full of clever twists, laughter and genuine brain-bending moments. I’m so excited to be back puzzling again with my fab mate Sally and the ever-clever Jeremy.”

Federico Ruiz, Commissioning Editor, Unscripted, 5 said: “Celebrity Puzzling had fans hooked from the start. It’s fun, chaotic and ideal for shouting answers at the telly, even though, to be honest, I’m usually shouting the wrong ones. Bringing back broadcasting royalty Jeremy, Carol and Sally was a total no-brainer - and with 50 hours of brain-scratching puzzles, as well as a long line of celebrity guests raring to go, they’ll certainly have their work cut out.”

Martin Scott, Executive Producer, Potato, added: “The joy of puzzling is something we love at Potato, and it’s great to see it strike such a chord with viewers. This next run of Celebrity Puzzling turns up the challenge and the fun in equal measure”.

With Glenn Hugill, Executive Producer, Wheelhouse Studios, adding: “I love ‘Celebrity Puzzling.’ It’s my favourite kind of format; the sort that looks polite on the surface but then quietly turns into a psychological cage match. This new series embraces that fully!”

Celebrity Puzzling (50 x 60’) was commissioned by Federico Ruiz, Commissioning Editor, Unscripted at 5. It is produced by Wheelhouse Studios and Potato (part of ITV Studios). Executive Produced by Martin Scott and Michael Mannes (Potato) and Glenn Hugill (Wheelhouse), Directed by Richard van’t Riet. ITV Studios will handle international distribution.
